Rachel Rose Morrissey

Painter in Holbrook, Massachusetts

b. 1986

Rachel was born in the late 80s in Dorchester, Massachusetts and grew up in the Connecticut suburbs. Rachel's current body of work is a response to how people view the real world through a digital lens. Her paintings reference life before and after social media feeds. She creates loud and obscure landscapes using digital references. Her experience as a graphic designer has influenced the style and colors of her paintings. This steers the paintings into a curious mashup of screens, social media, neons, landscapes and mark-making.

Rachel received her MFA in May 2016 from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She also earned a Post-Baccalaureate degree from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 2014 and a BFA in Studio Art from Indiana University in 2009. She is a mom, graphic designer and abstract painter creating works in her home studio. She lives with her husband and son in Holbrook, Massachusetts.
